The Windows 7 taskbar properties come up with a Start Menu tab that contains options that allow you to save the history of recently opened Start Menu items. When we look at Windows 8, this particular tab has been replaced with the Jump list tab that allows you to save recently opened Jump list item history.
This Jump List tab is probably more useful for Table PC users since Windows 8 has been particularly created for users who are more comfortable with the hand held device. Along with this, it must be remembered that disabling this log strongly helps you in maintaining your privacy while working on shared computers. In the following steps we will tell the way in which you will know how to enable and disable this history log.
In order to Disable Jump list history log, you must make sure that the following mentioned options are unchecked in the Jump list tab (within Windows 8 taskbar properties):
- The option labeled as “Store recently opened programs” should be unchecked.
- Also make sure that the “Store and display recently opened items in Jump list” option is also unchecked.
In the same when you are looking forward to Enable Jump List history, simply check (tick) these two options that are mentioned above.

There might be users who will find saving Jump List history useful, but then again it’s the user who has to decide what his priority is.
